About us, as if you didn't know

This is our youngest, we call him Bird. He's 2 & 1/2 and all boy. He keeps me on my toes and running behind him, cleaning up his messes. He likes to throw things. I thought it would be easier when all the other kids were in school all day, but he's the work of 4 all by himself. Nap time is what I live for each day, a couple hours of sanity, if I'm lucky. But he's sweet and loving too, he has a huge vocabulary and says the funniest things in his unusually deep voice. He says "I yuv you" all the time, so sweet.

This is our tiny little Gruber, he's almost 6 and in all-day Kindergarten. He's great at math and is well liked by his classmates. I go to his class each week to help out and I enjoy spending that time with him and getting to know his friends and teachers. He's smart and understands sarcasm, probably because I'm a pretty sarcastic person, so he's used to it. He was my tiniest baby at 6 lbs 9 oz and is still a little bean, tall and thin. Bird calls him GaGa, so he might get called that from time to time, try not to get confused.

This is our second born. We'll be calling him Efee. He's almost 9 and in 3rd grade and so sweet and smart and funny. His teacher tells me how funny he is at school. He's got a great sense of humor and makes friends with absurd ease. He was my biggest baby, born at 38 weeks, the longest I ever managed to carry a baby, but he also had some breathing problems at birth that kept him in the NICU for a week. Every birthday that he has, I reflect on that tiny baby laying in the hospital and how scared I was for him, and I'm so grateful for the health of all my children, something I don't take for granted.

This is our oldest, Dio, his nick name comes from himself, actually. He started talking well very early and Dio was what he called himself and it stuck. He's 10 and in 4th grade. He started reading before kindergarten (do you see a pattern here?) and he's never stopped. He's always got his nose in a book and loves reading. He's a very responsible child, a nice trait to have in an oldest kid. He was the only baby that I knew for sure was a boy before the ultrasound, I just knew. He loves to travel, anytime we go anywhere, he really enjoys experiencing new places and things, he especially loves large cities.

This is me and my wonderful husband, aren't we cute? I was born and raised in Sandy, Utah. I have 7 sisters and 1 brother. I stay at home with my kids and I'm a runner and I love yoga. I'm training for my second marathon which is on June 11th, so the blog might occasionally turn into a sort of training log when I get further into it and running becomes all consuming. I just started week three of my 16 week training schedule. I'm doing well so far, I get headaches every Saturday after my long run, but we're working through it. Excedrin is my friend. I think my neck and back muscles need to get used to the pounding on the pavement since the last couple years, most of my running has been on a treadmill, much less jarring to the body. But, I need to run outside for the race, so I need to train outside too.

My husband, David, raised in West Jordan, Utah. There are 5 kids in his family 4 boys and 1 girl. Our families are quite opposite. He's a hard worker and spent a lot of the years of our marriage in school getting a good education. He has an MBA from the U of U and he works hard every day so I can stay home with our kids. He works for a wonderful company and I'm amazed at the things he's accomplished and the hard things he deals with in his job to provide for our family.

We were married in June of 1999, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. It will be 12 years in June and it's gone by so fast. Sometimes I look around and I can't believe it's been that long, I still feel 21, most of the time. But I have 4 kids and the stretch marks to prove that I'm not 21 anymore!

I am going to keep my blog public, for now. We'll see how it goes. I'm going to be using nicknames for my kids, so if you comment about them, use their nicknames. I think it's easier to stay public, I do realize what I put out there to the world is out there forever, so I'll try to keep that in mind.
